Hello, friends!

I'm currently saving up for my dream PC, and while I think I've found all the parts I need, I'm not sure if they'll all fit together correctly/efficiently. I've done some basic PC upgrading before (new video card, adding RAM, simple stuff like that) but I've never done anything quite so ambitious as building a rig from scratch. So I've come here hoping for a little guidance (or at least reassurance). Here goes...

Approximate Purchase Date: Within 2-4 months. I'm in no huge rush -- my current rig gets things done just fine. However, I'm moving in September, and I'd therefore like to have everything together by then.

Budget Range: $1500-$2000 after shipping and rebates.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Sound editing (Pro Tools 10) video editing (Vegas Pro 12 Edit).

Processor: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core

Motherboard: MSI 990FXA-GD65V2 Desktop Motherboard - AMD 990FX Chipset - Socket AM3+

Sound and video editing is a large part of my job, so I need this PC to be as quiet as possible for when I work from home (which I'm doing more and more often.) It doesn't need to be dead-silent (because it won't be IN the studio) but I need as little interference as possible. With that in mind, I would replace the stock CPU fan, use a low-noise power supply, and low-noise case:

Low-Noise CPU Fan: Nexus LOW-7000 R2

Case: Nexus VERSION1 Silent PC Case

Power Supply: Nexus RX-8500 850 Watt 80-Plus 15dB Quiet Power Supply

I will also need high-quality sound and video cards. To keep things quiet, I might need to replace the video card's fans, as well, but I'm not going to buy those replacement fans until I've put everything together -- the case might mask the video card fans without the need for extra modding.

Sound Card: HT | OMEGA CLARO II 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit (OEM)

Other things I've already got, but you might want to know about:

-Yamaha MW12CX Mixer
-Sennheiser HD 650 Open-Air headphones
-JBL LSR4326P Monitors
-Pro Tools 10 and Vegas Pro 12 Edit (my employer will buy me new licenses if I can't get the current ones to carry over onto the new machine)
-USB Keyboard, mouse
-1 TB External Hard drive (USB 2.0)

Additional Comments: I figure I can always add more RAM if the 2 8GB sticks aren't doing enough. Similarly, I think this setup would make it possible to upgrade to a CrossFireX configuration sometime in the future as well, though I don't currently do enough video work (or gaming) to justify that.

So what do you folks think? Will this work? Is everything compatible? Is there some major component I'm not considering? Am I wasting money on something I don't need? Any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Andy

this is a system that's passively cooled. it does have fans to keep air moving inside the case, though with the fan controler you can set how fast and when they spin (temp probes) to minumize sound.

this is about as close to a 0db build as you'll get.

though i suggest you wait on Haswell, as the TPD of their cpus should be a bit lower.
