Hey, this will be my first build. Looking to do some overclocking, playing games, running multiple VMs. Would really appreciate some feedback on this setup and whether you think it will work well or if there are some ways I could improve it. I'd like to keep it around $1600. Thanks.

Even though you have a nice quality PSU, I would probably get a 80+ Gold 750+PSU. You have a lot of high end components in your PC, but you are kind of skimping on the PSU, this will be useful if you ever add on another GPU or do some overclocking. Also, are you getting a full tower just because you want to expand in the future or do you just want a large case?

Ok, I'll switch to the 750W because I do want to overclock and eventually do SLI. I like the full tower CM HAF and don't mind the size. Also, getting it so I can expand in the future. It also looks like it will work welll with top mounting the CM Seidon 240m with a push pull config.

Do you recommend the Corsair over the Seasonic? Only $20 diff

I just saw that newegg is giving some very awesome deals on Seasonic PSU's, so no, I would stay with Seasonic.

I am assuming you are reffering to this one 750W for a total of $69 which is an amazing deal.

But I also saw this 850W 80+ Gold Modular PSU that you can grab for just under $100. That is an amazing deal, with that PSU, you will have no worries as far as power is concerned.

So.. I couldn't wait any longer and ordered the parts today. Can't wait to get into this build.

I was wondering if I could get some help with the airflow setup for this case and the components. I thought since the msi gpu is exhausting heat into the case, it would be good to use the fan on the side of the case as exhaust, and intake from the front. Then for the top mounted cm seidon intake from the back and push pull out the top. Do you think this is a good idea or should I do it differently?

The only thing I would change would be switching the bottom exhaust to intake and left most intake to exhaust. I would mount your PSU fan side down, then you dont have to worry about hot air from your GPU being forced through your PSU, your front mounted fan should then help remove hot air from the GPU.

Good build, couple changes I would make:

Love the case but I would drop it down to a $100-$130 build use the extra money towards GPU

Upgrade the GPU to a 7970 Ghz edition

Change Samsung 840 Pro it out performs the one you selected

Change the RAM to a Low Profile type so the Heat Sinks dont get in the way of the CPU block

Also that motherboard would allow you for 3 way CF and only 2 way SLI (you could up your GPU if you want to go Tri-Fire but I wouldnt recommend it personally)

Already ordered the parts so can't change anything now. Didn't think I had to worry about memory profile with the water cooling, right?

You will be fine, worse comes to worse you may have to use slots 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3. But I doubt you will have any issues. You will probably never need to add more RAM, so it really shouldn't be a worry.

Ryan, is the left diagram what you were thinking? Or the right because you said the front fan will help remove hot air from the GPU? Thanks

Yes, the left diagram is what I was thinking of. I was just looking at your case, and what fans already come equipped. I noticed you have a large 230mm side fan. You already have 1 x 230mm front, 1 x 230mm top, 1 x 230mm side fans, and radiator for the CPU cooler. So it looks like you will have to remove the top 230mm fan to make room for the radiator. So I am only seeing 1 possible spot for another fan, and that is at the bottom. So you might as well make that an exhaust fan, I dont think it will do much good blowing air in when it will just be sucked out by the side mounted exhaust fan.

I would have cancelled that order but its probably too late. If I were you I would slap the crap out of the person that gave you that build advice. Not saying it wont work or anything just saying that it can be better optimized for cheaper

I think it's a good build for that price.. yeah I could of cut costs with a different case, mobo, fan cooling, or Radeon GPU, but I did some decent research and want to try this setup with these components. Thanks for your helpful feedback.....

Amen bro, their aren't enough people on this site that actually go out and do their own thorough research, getting build advise and opinions is great, but many people blindly take advise without figuring out what they want for themselves. You wanted to build the best machine possible for around $1600 and I think you will be very happy with your results. Enjoy your new PC.

Parts came today! Probably be setting it up this weekend.

I have some questions about connecting the fans; for hooking up the Seidon, I know it comes with one y-splitter, and was thinking I"ll probably need two more y splitters for the push pull config right? I was thinking about getting these splitters: link Recommend something different/better? Please check out the diagram below for what I was thinking about plugging the fans in. Let me know if I'm wrong about the splitters or should hook the fans up differently.
