Hi guys,

So my Sapphire Radeon HD6870 gave out today. While it is still under warranty, due to the expected long turn-around time, I was thinking about replacing it with something of equal or slightly higher caliber (and handing the refurb-ed card to my brother). However, despite hours of research, there simply isn't enough tangible information for me to make my decision.

Here's my setup. It is fairly new, as I gave up on my Bulldozer rig. It was just not quite there...:

Intel i5-3570 (@ 4.2Ghz)
Asrock Z77 Extreme3
Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 2x4GB
Corsair 600M builder series
Corsair Force Series 3 90GB SSD as system drive
(rest doesn't really matter I suppose)

---------

I play games like SC2, BF3, GW2...etc. single monitor, I can deal without MSAA. I also have a 3D monitor, and AMD's 3D support is non-existent, which is another reason why I'm thinking about going back to nVidia. I cannot believe I had to "buy" a third party software to get ANY sort of 3D content. It was outrageous...

And so... my current options at this point are:

- Zotac GTX 650 Ti for $104.99 (which is a slight downgrade for the most part)
- EVGA GTX 650 Ti BOOST for 159.99 (which seems to be an upgrade for the most part)
- EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked 2GB for 199.99 (which is an evident upgrade, but also a bit more than I should be spending)

There's also apparently a GTX 650 SSC. And I have no idea where it stands in performance in contrast to the preceding two.

---------

So my ultimate question would be.... How much real world gaming difference can I expect from my HD6870 compared to the 3 GPU's mentioned above. Would the 650 Ti be THAT big a downgrade. Would the 650 Ti BOOST perform neck to neck. And is the 660 THAT big a jump to justify another $200. Or is there another option I'm missing? Anything helps!

But one reason I'm switching to nVidia is AMD's lack of 3D support. The lack of native Physx support is also bothersome...

So you think the 650 Ti BOOST is a worthy investment? Is the MSI's TF version that big a difference compared to let's say... http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=059614 ?

The base and boost clock is only off by like 12 Hz...

(as you can see I'm in Canada...)

fair enough.

then you'll probably get solid return on the 650ti Boost... hard to beat those prices.

It isn't a difference. In gaming the difference of 12 would only be 0.5-1 frame.

I've done a lot of thinking about these cards as well - switching to the green team and looking for a slight upgrade before my HD 6870's worth drops below $100...

GTX 650Ti is on average 5% worse - and a lot worse when MSAA is applied
GTX 650Ti Boost is on average 30% better - much better in newer games
GTX 660 is on average 45% better - you'll be glad for the extra muscle a year down the road

They're all at appropriate prices right now, but get the 650Ti Boost at least - that ASUS card you have linked is a great one.
