I am looking to add a liquid cooling loop to a build I would like to do in a few weeks with two XFX Double D Radeon HD 7970 Cards. This is my first liquid cooling loop, and am still working out the exact components I am using, but as far as this post, I am interested specifically in the cooling Block. Any advice would be appreciated; whats compatible, what looks bad ass, brands to consider, and links to sites where I myself can browse possible choices.

Here is a link to the Specific card I am getting

Thank you!

Ahh, those XFX cards are always tricky.

There are two versions of that card, one uses a reference design PCB and the other does not. To make everything more difficult, both have the same product number.
However you can tell because the non-reference design has two DVI ports, while the reference only has one. The card you linked too is the non-reference version, meaning for full-cover compatability at least your out of luck.

I use this HIS card in my rig (and its WC'd), and can confirm that its reference design.

MSI also offer a reference design card, but following a strange trend only apparent in the US, its costs far more than it should.

As for which block to get, thats for you to figure out :D . Pretty much any 7970 block will be compatible with the above cards, so pick the one you like. I use a Heatkiller 79X0 Ni-Bli full cover block personally.
Only block I dont recommend you get is the 7970 Razor, its not that good a performer compared to other blocks.

The display-outputs on the back suggest it is, but without a picture of the PCB you cant be sure.
That cards model number isnt appearing on Cooling-Configurator (great resource for this kind of thing) either.

Are you sticking with XFX for any particular reason?

Careful, if your still looking for a waterblock, don't mess around with the 2nd Edition of the XFX HD 7970 cards. It is not reference (personal experience), you will need to do separate GPU + VRAM cooling OR have a modded water block.

ahhh sorry to tell you that non reference cards normally do not have full water blocks you need the reference card for that but the blocks cost like 100-200 USD. you can get a GPU block from xoxide.com and little GDDR5 heat sinks but its reely not worth it you have to pry off the heat sink weather it be a reference or not witch voids the warranty.

you also run the risk of frying your PC with a water leek. just start with a CPU loop then when the new card that you want comes out you can pick up the REFERENCE version and plum it in.
