2.5 inch laptop 5400rpm vs pata usb

So here is my question guys. I currently have my windows 7 instalation on a laptop hard drive spinning at 5400rpm. Do you think a PATA hard drive (Brand new just laying around the house stamped 2010) would be faster in a usb case? And if not fast enough to put games onto?

  1. Over USB, it won't be fast enough more than likely.

Is there a pata to sata converter for putting this in my desktop?
  3. Yes there are adapters that would give you much better speed than a usb adapter. Just google it or look on Amazon.
  4. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812206002

I've used these in the past wihtout any issues but not with win7 or attached to a sata3 port.
  5. DOEs anyone have one confirmed working?
