Hello,
New to the board and I hope someone can help. My western digital 500g external hard drive became unplugged unsafely. No files can be accessed. In Disk management it's listed as RAW. When trying to access it from mycomputer it tells me that I need to format, which I did not obviously. I ran Easeus Data Recovery to no avail. I've ran Testdisk and GParted also no luck. So I'm stuck. I've just ran dmde 2.4.4 but cannot decipher the results. Also is this a matter of a corrputed mbr? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have baby pics and if my wife knew I didn't back them up, I'm a dead man.......

It sounds like you need to recover the partition to me. Have you tried recuva, let it do its quick scan and if that doesnt find anything do the deep scan option.

Paragon Rescue might also do it and Eause has a prtition recoery tool too. I dont know if these are free. I would use a linux based app called testdisk myself.

Well done! The formatting process often would increase the difficulty of complete data recovery. Therefore, you are right not to format it immediately.
To get back your data, you could try partition data recovery software. There are many similar data recovery tools out there. Put much more attention to select a proper one for your data.
Read more information of partition data recovery stuff: http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/03/unreadable-partition-recovery.html
Next time, always back up your needed data on different safe locations.
