Hello,

I'm forced to replace my current motherboard and I'm wondering whether I'm making the right choice. My current system is:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 631 2.6GHz Socket FM1 4MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
MB: Asrock A75 Pro4 A75 Socket FM1 7.1 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard
PS: Corsair 600W CX Builder Series 80 Plus Bronze PSU 3 Year Warranty
RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V unbuffered
HDD: Seagate 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Barracuda Hard Drive 7200RPM 16MB Cache
VC: XFX ATI Radeon HD 6770 1GB DDR5 PCI-E

I aim to replace my Asrock motherboard with "ASUS F1A55-M LX PLUS VGA+SND+GLN+U2 SATA 6GB/S DDR3 Motherboard", here is a link in amazon.

As I recall there are several things u need to look for in order to optimize the system you are building. You need same sockets of the CPU and MB, same compatibility of ram and the motherboard should support the same SATA writing speeds. Am I missing something and is the Asus motherboard a good replacement option for my system? Also is worth mentioning that I'm looking for a cheap replacement, say below 50 pounds, so I'm eager to hear your ideas.

Update:
I've researched a bit the ASUS fm1 sockets and apparently there are 2 types - A55 and A75, and one of the main differences is that A75 supports sata 6gb/s and A55 only 3gb/s, the price jumps also though.

Regards,
Cestry

I'm getting series of problems which at the end point toward fault in my MB. Started off with unability to power up ( fans spinning only for a second, then powering down ), after that random resets. And the latest is that my system powers up, but I'm getting a black screen, as in my monitor is completely idle. I did my research and the last thing I will try before buying a new MB is try reseting the bios with a flash drive or smth.
