My brother wants to put a geforce 560ti in a basic amd quadcore system that he has. He just has one harddrive and a disc drive, nothing else. I know that the 560ti supposedly works with a 500w, but when it gets down to amps on the 12v rail, I dont fully understand how that works. the 560ti evidently requires 30A on the 12v rail. The power supply I've linked below is what he has now, and it currently runs his geforce 250 GTS. Can this thing run a 560ti, or does he need to get a new PSU? Thanks much! I know that this power supply has two PCI-e connectors, and I've heard of people running beefy/sli setups with it. I just want to be safe, and I dont want to fry a computer or graphics card.

That Apex is an absolutely horrible power supply, very poor quality. The Seasonic posted above is a very good unit and that's a great price. When it comes to choose what brand and model of power supply to get here is a good guide.

The Apex is in tier 5 which is suggested to replace asap of you have it. Only get a unot that is in tier 1,2 or 3, if its in tier 4 or 5 stay away from it.
