So im upgrading my buddys rig for his birthday, and im just curious about a couple things.

How well does an a10 5800k in cfx with a 6670 perform at 1366x768 for games like farcry 3, dead island, diablo 3, crysis 2 and 3?

Im asking cause he currently has a monitor in that resolutio. And it doesnt really bother him. His build is an athlon 2 x3 450 3-core and a radeon 4670 with 2 gigs of ddr2 800. Obviously not cutting it for those games, although ive heard people who still have that tri core can pair it with a radeon 7850 or the likes and still get decent frames in new games.

So basically i was gonna upgrade him to a ~$150 1080p monitor with a gtx 650 ti boost, or leave his monitor and get an fm2 board with a10 5800k and a 6670.

Those are the 2 solutions im looking at. The 1080p screen and 650 ti boost is the more expensive at around 300 and i really would like to not spend more than that. If theres a better solution for around the same price, or you can justify it being more expensive, feel free!

Thanks in advance! :)

Edit: forgot to add that ill also be buying 4 gigs of ddr3 1333 ram. Nothin fancy, but nothin too cheap either. Havent looked around yet.

I would go with upgrading to the new cpu and mobo and cfx the 6670.
Getting him a new cpu is going to benefit him because games are starting to use the 4 cores now. It is also going to perform about the same framerates as a 650ti (non-boost edition) which will be fine at that resolution. Upgrading to a 650ti boost with that low end cpu will not do too well at 1080p anyway.

Yeah just because the 3 core processor is not good. The a10 would be a nice CPU upgrade from it, and it would benefit him more in the long run. Plus with the cfx 6670 would be fine graphically compared to a 650ti boost. it wont be as good, but it wont be bad.
