Is it okay to buy pc components abroad?

Im going to singapore in a few days and I have my eyes set on a tech store called Cybermind. They sell pc parts there and i was wondering if its a good idea to buy a cpu, gpu, ram and maybe even a psu abroad. My main concern is airport security. Would the components go through security without any problem? What about the warranty? Thanks in advance. :)

How long are you there? You got to make sure you don't go over your purchase limits when you go through customs. I'm from Canada so I'm not familiar with the limits and rules from the States, but you should check with your government official/web site. Usually your limits will increase as your stay in the country is longer.

Check with US customs on how much your limit is for 5 days... but I mean, to answer your initial question, this is my opinion:

If you buy it there and you get a dead-on-arrival component, you'll be pretty much S-O-L with that part, or it'll probably be more complicated than it needs to be to get a replacement (and the shipping cost won't be negligible). It needs to be a pretty good deal to make it worth your wild, and you gotta factor in the conversion fees that you'll need to put on your credit card (or cash if it's the case) when you buy with a different currency.

So, I wouldn't worry about security (but again, check with your officials), but I would be concerned with warranty, or more-so the shipping costs if you need to send stuff back (cause they most likely won't cover the shipping costs).

Customs Allowance for travelers entering the U.S. per person: "$800.00 USD per person. This is a monthly exemption. Family members can combine their $800 per person monthly import privileges. You can import 1 Litre (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverages or 1 case of beer (24 bottles). You are also allowed to include up to 200 cigarettes and 100 cigars (non Cuban) in your exemption."
