Hi friends. I've just installed Windows XP SP2 on my HP Compaq 6710s. Wired connection works fine. Wireless connection gets detected but does not connects. It says validating identity. When Laptop is started it says "Windows was unable to find a certificate ........." something like that.
Any help would be appreciated.

"Validating identity" and "unable to find a certificate" sounds like the wireless points your connecting to has been secured with a password, or keyphrase (WPA?). I would remove the password on the wireless and test, does it connect fine (since it connects when wired to it your saying). Your also using XP, this is way out dated (Windows 7 can work on that laptop would be my suggestion) and hasn't been supported for a while now. It also doesn't contain the newer Wireless Security standards Vista/7 have in them (WPA2 comes to mind) so if your trying to keep others from connecting on your wireless, that older XP won't either as it doesn't have the 'tech' in it to understand how to 'speak' (get certificate) with the security settings.
