Question w/ CPU fan running 100% all the time

I just recently built a pc and everything seems to be working fine, just a few little worries primarily with the fans.

It seems my CPU fan is always running at 100% which is right around 1800 rpms, this is according to the bios and speedfan.

The cpu fan i have is the Enermax ETS-T40

while it seems to be keeping my pc cool and always running around 30-40c it is somewhat loud but not horrible.

I just wasn't sure if its bad for the the fan to always run 100% because it seems to never idle and the only time it slows down is when I put the pc to sleep or off obviously.

In the past pcs ive bought and used the fans would typically slow down or idle without heavy use? Is this normal. Thanks

I did see that in the bios to set a percentage or temperature (dont remember which one) but than id be worried during some prolonged gaming time that it might not get to the speed it needs and than overheat.

Is their anyway to just idle when it doesnt need too than kick in during gaming etc..

CPU's are safe up to a point of around 75 degrees, of course this depends on the CPU.

Trust me, there are safety features in place designed to prevent overheating damage (Unless you disabled them of course..).

Just set it to level 1, and if its not overclocked, it won't go too far in terms of temps. My i5 3550 which isn't OCed of course rarely gets past 40 degrees in gaming, even though ambient is around 25 degrees celcius some days. The fan barely even moves.

Hey there, i recently had a problem with my old fan running 100% and the problem was that my new motherboard did not support 3pin fan connection, so i had to put the stock fan because it was 4pin and all worked fine.

That issue probably happened because 3 Pin only supports Voltage changes, while PWM fans the actual RPM can be controlled by the motherboard. But you are right, check that the fan is 4 pin PWM and not 3 Pin.

ok thanks will check little later. but regardless its perfectly fine for the fan to run 100%? I will probably knock it down in the bios to maybe 50% and see because just did some gaming for a few hours and never went above 34c
