I have a EK-DCP 4.0, I've used the pad it comes with and used cable ties to help fix it down. I have it connected to a fan controller on the front panel so i can alternate the speed. I've noticed when at max, it seems to sound like something is spinning, im aware it hums, but that isn't really that loud at all. The way i can describe it is like when you hear a washing machine spinning its blatantly obvious its spinning, its not that loud aha, but im wandering whether its normal or not. Also noticed if I hold it in a certain position as in putting my hand's weight on it, it does stop. Same when i turn the speed down, it doesn't always happen either.

I have a huge hunch its to do with bad sound insulation and the way ive fit it in my case. What do you guys think?

sounds like the propeller is off ballanced. this could happen by buildup of gunk in the water, damage to the prop, or just plain wear.

if it the pump was designed to be user serviceable you might beable to get parts, or replace the pump, or turn up the volume to drown it out.

it doesnt sound broken, i think its bad insulation, or the way i have fixed it in my case. I tilted my case slightly, so it was elevated off the desk, and it went quieter.

this pump would be a centrifugal water pump. in on the front, out on the top.

a balanced prob would make for a silent pump (DC and brushless helps too), no insulation needed. an even slightly unbalanced prob will make the pump vibrate. if it is firmly attached to anything, that too will vibrate and make the sound louder. touching it will absorb the vibrations/energy making it quieter. increasing the speed increases the energy making it sound louder.

when you change the position of the pump, are you changing the inlet from side towards the top, or vice versa?

if yes, you could have a bearing/bushing on its way out.

it looks like this pump is not user servicable, you may have to buy a new pump.

At the moment it is pumping upwards; up and then along to my rad, the input is at the bottom on the side where the tubing leads from the res, mounted above the pump. I could somehow start up my pc on another surface, since I have a feeling this desk is vibrating. The case im using was really cheap, which i shouldnt have bought to be honest. The pump was brand new about 2weeks ago. Also because of the design of my case, i could not mount the pump with screws, literally the foam pad and cable ties are holding it in place, so I can kind of see why it is vibrating.

I was looking into getting a NZXT Phantom 630 since it is bigger. I am looking for a good noise insulated case, or at least decent.
