Hi there, first posting on TomsHardware.

Situation:
Last week my partner and I assembled our first gaming PCs from parts at the local computer store (Full spec below).
Both computers are identical other than PSU and both have the same issue: Win8 isn't detecting the graphics card at all (Only the onboard intel graphics is detected), and it's not displaying any output when tested with DVI.

Full Spec:
CPU: Intel i7 3770
GPU: Sapphire HD 7870 2GHz OC Edition
Mobo: Gigabyte B75M-D3V
PSU: Thermaltake 500W / Acbel iPower G500 (500W)
RAM: GSkill Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB)
HDD: Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200

What I've Tried:

  • ■ Installed AMD Catalyst Drivers
    ■ Upgraded BIOS version
    ■ Setting BIOS to PCI
    ■ Disabling internal graphics
    ■ Reseating graphics cards
    ■ Reseating/swapping RAM
    ■ (Yes, the two 6pin power connectors are connected)
    ■ Triple checked for any lose standoffs or screws under the board
    ■ GPU fans are spinning
    ■ Read through every available resource on such issues on google for the past week
    ■ Turning it off and on again. Remembering where my towel was. Not listening to vogon poetry
    ■ Beating head against the wall really hard
    ■ Crying out for help like a newb on an awesome tech forum (err, you guys)

My Hypothesis:
I believe it'd be ridiculous to think that both cards have fried or not been seated properly twice.
I believe it to be either a missing BIOS setting or somehow an incompatible GPU + Mobo combo, however I believe I saw a few people on here that have/had the same combo working perfectly fine...
That's not much of a hypothesis now is it?

Could someone please help my partner and I with our new gaming rigs?
I understand the PSU may not be up to scratch for the GPUs, but I should at least be able to get some output and have them detected by the OS, right?

Happy to supply any new information to anyone who has the time and kind heart to help us out :)

Thanks guys,
Tim

I've tried setting "Init Display First" to each one of it's settings (PCI included), but each time it doesn't make a difference. Oddly though, when I go back into the BIOS, it's gone back to Auto. On both machines. And that's after a save and exit too.

How did you fixed this?
