Hello people,
I really need your help, and please sorry if I'm in the wrong section, I'm new :)

for 3-4 days I've been having a problem that is bothering me really much: my computer has gotten really slow, it would take 5-10 mins to boot up and wait 'till the icons and such are loaded, freeze every 5-10 seconds (usually for 10-15 mins after boot it does that), opening\copying\deleting would take ages and such.
I remember it happening one day as I was installing some mods for the well known game System Shock 2, the game took a really long time to load and never actually made it so I had to restart my PC because it froze :(

I've done some research by myself and read that this are the exact symptoms of a drive stuck in PIO mode, which is actually what is happening to me as the device manager says it

btw the affected drive is my the one the OS is installed on, 500GB, the other is my main media drive, 1000gb
I've tried changing it to DMA but it always reverts back aaaaaaand every possible fix I've found is XP only, no windows 7 :(

I've also done a couple tests with HDTune and while the media drive is fast and all that, 512 bytes writes\reads, 4kb, 512kb, 1mb, random etc are done immediately, the OS drive takes a long time for just one operation, really long time.

So, can someone tell me how I can revert it back to DMA (if that's the problem) and be able to enjoy my fast speeds I got used to? Please?

I'm on Windows 7,
Core2Duo 2.8Ghz,
3Gb RAM,
GeForce GT240,
the drives are Caviar Blacks, 500 and 1000 Gb, the 500 Gb one being the one affected.

If you need any info whatsoever, just comment and ask for it.
Thanks really much for your time.

EDIT: Oh yeah I forgot, I've uninstalled the drive in the device manager and rebooted, nothing changed :/

I don't know what happened, but I'm able to change the mode to DMA and it would stay there :D
I'm an happy man again.

I wasn't able when I uninstalled the controller yesterday, but now it's all fine.

Admin, you can lock this thread, and thanks for the answers :-*
