Would go for an i5 instead of the i7. With the money you save that way, you can get a better graphics card.

1> Mention the games you will be playing.
2> Get the "k" version of the processor if you are going to go with the Z77 motherboard, otherwise get the best H77 and spend the more bucks to get a better GPU.

Other than that, yes, those parts will work well together.

ive thaught about this but the money saved would not itself cover an upgrade. Thanks for the advice though :)

Like somebody already mentioned get an i5 3570k and get a better gpu. The i7(non k) makes no sense if you arn't going to do some serious video editing.

Change your RAM to DDR3 1600

Its up to the OP but in my eyes I would not try to fit an SSD as this budget, up the GPU as much as possible add a SSD on later

First of all how much would you want to spend on your PC? Please do not get 660, you will not be happy with the performance, if anything find 660ti or 7950 which are about the same price however 7950 can oc highger then 680 :)

If not getting the k version of the i7, get a i5-3570k.
And yeah, you can SLI the GPU in the future.
