Help I need mass storage

hey i have a couple of old desktop towers is there a way to hook them to my lap top and use one as a mass storage? cus im thinkin bout sinkin some money in some recording equipment. i guess what i really need is the tower to do all the recording and to be able to control it with my laptop

well, I'm not sure.... I dont have any computer screens to go with the towers.... i just wanna know how i can maybe use the hard drives for more storage... they've been wiped.... i mean i know i can use the hard drives as externals i'm just not sure what i need to do...

If you want them in a separate tower (non-external), they still need to be attached to a computer. Turn it on, let it work and you can remote into it and control it with your desktop.

You can also run them as a NAS and run your music on your laptop just like the drives were usb external drives. Freenas is a decent free NAS opeating system.

Also remember all computers & equipment breaks so think about how you will backup all your music so when it happens to you it wont be a total disaster.
