The Z77A GD-65 is $139.99 while the new version, the Z77A GD-65 Gaming is $179.99. The only advantages I see in spending the extra $40 for the new version would be maybe some glitches with the old board have been worked out, and I hear the new gaming version comes with something that redirects traffic to allow for less lag in games (maybe marketing gimick by doing something very simple)? Would it be more worth it to go for 16 GB of ram over 8 GB with the extra money? Also, if I order the old GD-65 I can get it from Microcenter along with my CPU, for another $40 in bundle savings, that's $80 I could do something else with, like maybe a better PSU or maybe spring for a custom water cooling loop rather than the XSPC Raystorm.

Ideas, thoughts? Thank you :D

Edit: CPU block would run me $80, whole loop around $300. Maybe if I could find a nice 250mm Res combo with a pump pre attached to the bottom if it I could make it in the budget.

You are right, marketing gimic, its used on the internal network but the bottleneck is on your internet solution in the first place.

Anyway, those "fixes" can all be done with a simple BIOS update of the older version of the board.

As for RAM, 8GB is good enough if you want to spend the money elsewhere on your build.
