I have a 6100 modem hooked to my desktop. I want to keep my desktop hooked into the land line but I also need to have wireless because my children have wireless laptops and kindles that they cannot use right now. Can someone recommend a good router and whatever else I need as well as instruction on how to set it all up? I would really be greatful.

As you don't specify your location, going to guess your in the U.S and connect to Verizon, if so it will be Westell 5100 modem, give the the tech boys a ring and tell them its misbehaving and ask for a replacement Westell 7500 which also has wireless function. Although any ADSL/ADSL2+ router would do the job, you would need to setup the PPPoE connection details for verizon but support should help you with that.
