Hey, I'm wondering about this, there's probably alot of posts about this, but everyone keeps telling them to get the 3570k, because it's much more "bang for the buck". But I'm wondering stricly (like money wasn't a problem at all), strictly which one is the better one for gaming? Which one is better in stock config, and which one is best when overclocked? (I know that the SandyBridge is easier to OC). Please enligten me,

Thanks!

Ivy Bridge is roughly 5-7% faster clock for clock. The Sandy Bridge chip makes up for it by running cooler and generally overclocking a bit higher. The 2700K has Hypethreading. This is helpful in about 2 games that I know of one being Crysis 3.

Basically the two would be considered equal. The only way you could tell a difference would be in benchmarking. With the 3750K you can expect a 4.3-4.4Ghz overclock with a decent air cooler and with the 2700K 4.5-4.6Ghz with the same cooler.

3770K? 3960X? 3970X? And I'm sure there are many 2700Ks that can't reach 5 GHz.

If I mentioned the 3930k then the 3960x and 3970x goes without saying right! The i7 3770k is not better than i7 2700k since it cannot overclock for crap Sandy Bridge is much better than Ivy Bridge in my opinion

i7 3820 as well. No point in keeping this going, though.

The 3820 on a X79 platform without 6 cores is useless! Tom throws CPU Expert title a little too easily around here yeah no point going on though.
