Help with new build

If you are only using one monitor I would advise against a crossfire configuration given there latency troubles. I would either go with a single 7970. Or possibly two 670's with 4 GB's of memory experiencing those issues with there multi gpu setups. And the case is fine have you taken a look at the 900D though its a bit more expensive just thought to mention it is all. Overall I love your system. I have the power supply you list and its amazing the fan only turns on when things are above a certain load I never hear and rarely see it spinning.

As a note I don't think the cards you have there are bad I just fear the latency issues will be the downfall of your system given AMD's current latency issues Especially with CF.

I wouldn't pay money for the Obsidian 800D if you don't need to hot swap hard drives. You could save quite a bit of money on the case. I'd downgrade that to something like a Fractal Design Define R4 and then upgrade your power supply to something like the Seasonic X860 Gold or the X1050 Gold (if you need that much power). You also don't need 16GB RAM either for gaming.

Yeah I really like the corsair psu I have it plugged into my old tower right now to test it out and it's quiet and great.

Are latency issues that bad with CF setups, or is it just if I get a bad card out of the batch? I wanted to go dual GPU because I see no value in purchasing a 1000$ Titan or 7990 for less performance, and then having to SLI it down the road for another 600-700. Would rather do CF/SLI and replace every 2 years for 800-900 per pair and get more performance out it at the same time. Do you think the latency issues could be fixed with driver updates, or is this a problem with the CF cards architecture?

It's pretty bad from what I hear. Here is a article going over AMD working on a fix but who knows when that will come out and how much it will really fix.

And yes the two cards you mentioned are not really all that economical. I like the Titan a bit more since its a single card and you don't run into the same issues you do in a multi gpu setup such as latency and stuttering.

And honestly the 800D is rather expensive but man its your case you are going to be starring at it you make the choice if its worth it to you then its worth it to me :p

Yes the case is a little overpriced for my liking but I need something that looks clean and professional for the place I will be using it, I don't go for bright shiny cases and I wanted to splurge for this beauty of a case :p.

Regarding the video card I will honestly just build the damn thing with 7970's in CF and try the system out. If I get too annoyed with the latency or if it cannot perform (which I'm not worried about) I will just return them to Amazon for SLI GTX 670 4gbs. Hopefully AMD and nvidia fix this latency issue with their next series of cards.

You should check out a couple of less expensive cases too. The 800D is nice but if you don't need the hot swap HD feature you can get something far less expensive but still looks functional like:

- Nanoxia Deep Silence II: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811281002
- Silverstone PS06B: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163181
- Fractal Design Define R4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352021

That is a very slick looking case that I didn't discover, and it's 120 less than my 800D. I'll have to decide upon these two probably within the next couple days, have everything else ordered. I will add some extra fans for cooling to whichever case I purchase since these two don't look like the best for air cooling but I've read the 800D can have fantastic custom air with some effort.

Yeah but the rule of thumb for fans though is - don't buy until you have the case in your possession. If you buy the wrong size fans they will be useless, and you'll probably have a hard time returning them. If you wait until you have the case in your possession and you can actually count the number of physical mounts and the size of the mounts, then you can order as many fans as needed.

I completely agree with the XL R2 being a good case its really a larger version of the R4 and I thought maybe it would be up your alley seeing as you were wanting a full size case.

In terms of fans though the case has 140mm/120mm fan mounts and I would normally as a rule of thumb get the larger fan because it will result in more air pushed and a bit quieter rpms. But G-Unit makes a fair point to have the case in hand before doing things with fans. ANd then research them. I'm a fan snob I wouldn't just buy normal fans it would be corsair, noctua, or cougar.
