I just built my first computer with a gigabyte GA-X79-UP5-WIFI with an intel i7 3970X and when I turn it on, the computer monitor hooked up does not register. In fact, all of the peripherals don't register except my eSata with my easytransfer file. The lights in the opticals just sit there blinking. I am using a new AMD HD Raedeon 7850 made by Powercolor that looks fine. I also hace four 1333 ram and two 1600 ram. I have spent two months gathering these parts and I really want to use the computer. if you are wondering about the power supply, it is a raidmax with 630 watts. I am pretty sure there are no 4 pin slots. Please help!

When you say you are pretty sure there are no 4 pin slots, are you referring to the EPS12v power connectors? Your board has an eight pin EPS connector located on right side of the m/b next to the blue heatsink. Your psu should have 2x 4 pin connectors for this purpose. Hook up the EPS power with the 2x 4pin and see if that solves your problem.

Your motherboard has an 8pin ATX12v connection near the cpu along the edge of the board. Your power supply should have one lead that has 2, 4pin connectors. Use these connectors in the 8pin on your m/b.

Your board will not boot without this connection.

At this point I think you should remove all connections from the m/b and start over. Remove the video card, ram, all sata and header connections - everything except the cpu and heatsink.

Remove the m/b from the case with the cpu/heatsink still in place and breadboard the rig outside the case. Use your manual and make sure each connection you make is correct. Do the breadboarding next to your case on a non-conductive surface (I use the m/b box or a piece of cardboard). Make sure you have the piezo speaker installed correctly and connect the front panel power leads, the os drive, ram, the gpu and monitor and the heatsink fan only. See if the rig will boot. If not, write down the beep codes and check the m/b manual for their meaning.

I ordered the CPU from amazon, and as we all know, amazon is incredibly forgiving, although their shipping is a bit suck, so I might replace my processor. Processor may be broken/fried. Since it was used under normal conditions (no chance to overclock), I have not voided the warranty. Will replace during the summer when I have time.
