I thought I had everything right and went to start building but now i'm stumped at the first hurdle: installing the CPU.

I have an ASrock H77 Pro4-M motherboard and an AMD FX 8350 and the chip doesn't seem to fit.

The chip has an arrow in one corner and that is it, although the manual mentions alignment notches. It seems to rest on top of the pins but doesn't really fit in as it's stopped by two plastic notches. It just sort of sits there lopsided.

Are these parts incompatible? I'm in a bit of a panic.

Although some Intel and AMD components are cross compatible these two are not one of them. Assuming you plan on using a motherboard that supports your CPU I would recommend something of an AM3+ depending on your price range and graphics card intended on being used.

Thanks all. I was given these specs as part of a computer build from someone but looks like these parts were bum compatibility wise.

Will try again.
