Double 12v rail PSU

I have a double 12v rail PSU (700w) with 22a on each rail, the question is, can it power up a 7870?

More about double 12v rail psu
  1. yes i believe so, brand/model of psu pls?
  2. May I know the exact model/type of your PSU?
22A on each rails seems okay, but to make sure, let us know the exact model first... :)

    http://www.acteck.com.mx/web/prod_dt.php?id_cat=Work%20it&id_fam=Fuentes%20poder&ITEM_NO=GAFU-029
    Its in spanish though.
  4. Uhh, not enough info from that site...
But if it's true it has 22A on each rails (12V) then it's okay, you can run single HD7870 with that PSU.. :)
  5. I'm not impressed, it looks like an old unit which has had some PCI-E cables tacked on.
Interrogator, can you either: Post a picture of the PSUs rating label, or detail its outputs?

    Here are they

    Better ;).
My concern was that it would have high outputs on the +5 and +3.3 volt lines, which would mark it as being a old design with, as I said, PCI-E cables just tacked on.
I do n't think it is in the same league as a top level part but it should do the job.
Looks like you are good to go, mate, enjoy the 7870!

Just a a last question, can I handle a bigger power hungry gfx, as the 7950 or 7970? or just the 7870?
  10. No, you'll better with a new powerful/bigger PSU, just like coozie7 said before:
"it have high outputs on the +5 and +3.3 volt lines, which would mark it as being a old design with", so you'll better upgrade it before using high end card like HD7950 or higher.. :)
