Hi guys, I'm planning to upgrade my radeon HD 5450 to another one that can play games on ultra @60+ fps.

Like BF3 , Crysis 3, FC3 ,COD MW3 .....

My current display res is 1440*900

budget 200-250$

I'm sure i can find a good card around this budget for a low res like mine,
any Suggestions Accepted.

CPU : I5 760 @2.8 Ghz

Ram:4GB DDR3 1333mhz 1.5v

Mother board : [this is the 2nd Q] foxconn h55mxv-k6...well it handle the new gpu?

HDD : WD caviar green 640GB

Sincerly,yours
ur friend from egypt :)

Solution
The Radeon 7870 Myst Edition by Powercooler (Cost of around $255 before $20 MIR) will work quite well for what you're asking. Your motherboard should be just fine as far as handling this card goes. I recommend upgrading your RAM to 8 GB however, which could cost another $50-60.

Here's a link!

EDIT: GET THE SAPPHIRE VARIANT!!! The Sapphire version has much better cooling and probably more reliable as well. More cooling = MOAR OVERCLOCKING!

I would tend to favour the Sapphire variant, myself: http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AT-7870XT2&c=CJ
I've typically not heard good things about Powercolor GPUs.

Couldn't agree more. The sapphire variant is much better, just couldn't find it in stock on Newegg, but there it is somewhere else haha.

This is where lazy searching tendencies win the day: I only found that because I wasn't willing to actually do a Newegg search, and just clicked on a PC Part Picker link instead.

Hahaha. Of course, but nonetheless, i think we can both agree that the 7870 Tahiti is the greatest thing since fried ice cream.

I'm pretty sure that if you asked literally everyone on this site, none of them would say that they didn't love the 7870 Tahiti/XT/LE. It's the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo of graphics cards: everybody always recommends it for that price bracket.

Except for the fanboys of course. They'll try to recommend the 660 or 660 ti when there's really no point unless you're doing Video editing or 3d rendering. Those CUDA cores really help out with that. But yeah, for gaming, the 7870 XT/LE destroys.

Well idk. If you can find a 660ti for less than the 7870XT it tends to be slightly faster in gaming..

Not an nvidia fanboy whatsoever (I tend to hate them lol), but the 660ti beats the 7870XT slightly. If you can get it on sale at the same price I say go for it.

@icypyro thank u for the answer, but which one is better
hd7870XT, or gtx 660?

@caydn the 660ti is crazly priced in egypt @2700L.E which about 385$ [2700/7 = apprx 385]
hd7870 and gtx 660 are exactly the same price.
any way, thank u for ur answer

if ur recommending me with the gtx 660 or 7870 , which brand should i choose? thx

by the way, here is the site which i know the prices from.
http://www.egprices.com/category.php?cat=1
because I'm in egypt and i have never bought anything online (idont trust it) so i know the prices then go to the store which sells the cheapest one.

I'm using it mainly for gaming,no video editing or 3D rendering.
just gaming.

The 7870 XT is superior to the 660, no question.

According to this, the cost of a Sapphire 7870 XT is 1,950 LE: http://www.egprices.com/product.php?id=21606

There are only two brands that I know of which have 7870 XT/LE/Tahiti (different names for the same card) cards: Sapphire and Powercolor. Of the two, Sapphire is almost unilaterally regarded as better.
