Hi everyone! I am building my own PC soon and I was wondering if Dells 24 inch Ultrasharp monitor is worth the money. Is the color/picture quality that much better than a tn panel running and 120hz? I will be gaming on this monitor, but I dont really mind the lag times and what not, and 60 fps is good enough for me if its compensated with amazing picture quality. So the ultimate question:

Is the Ultrasharp's color quality that much better than lets say an ASUS VG248QE?

Without a doubt yes. But if you want to reduce the cost a bit, why not drop to 23" like the U2312HM? When I stepped up to 24" and then back to 23" I noticed the size difference for maybe an hour then I was totally accustomed to the difference in size.

I'd personally take a PVA panel over these, but it depends on what you really value. Depth of blacks and dark colours are really important to me (I can't stand weak greys in place of blacks) so I'm willing to sacrifice a little in colour accuracy/shift relative to IPS/PLS (still FAR better than TN in those regards).

For me, PVA > PLS > IPS > 120Hz TN > TN but your priorities may be different.

DO NOT under any circumstance get this! I bought a BRAND NEW one, but it died after 3 days, the replacement (I didn't know) was refurbished so when it ALSO died (8 months later), DELL made sure I'm S.O.L.! Do not order from those crooks! I post on Dell's Q&A board and they delete my post rather than helping me., I';ve been counting responses and I'm subscribed to threads about these monitors...it comes up to around 3-4 posts PER DAY they read, try to help if they can, then delete your post if they ripped you off,. There are so many with graphics card failure, there should be a recall. The net is loaded with complaints where people think it's their connections, then finally realize it's the fried graphics card. It's plain NOT WORTH IT. Never buy a dell! THE COMPANY IS WAY DIFFERENT than it used to be!
