Upgrading MOBO from Asus M5a87 to Gigabyte UD3?

Would I benefit from upgrading my Asus mobo to the Gigabyte mobo to improve OC? Ive been trying to overclock my CPU to at least 4ghz or close to it, but each time I would go past 3.3ghz it wouldn't even boot it would just tell me "Over clock failed, Enter setup to change" I have also disabled 2 cores so its a "quad" core now, Or am I doing it all wrong...? Also is my 1050t bottle-necking by 680? If so, would upgrading to an i5 3570k diminish this issue?
