Hi
I want to buy a decent gaming headset and unfortunately only these two brands are locally available: Razer and Steelseries.
I narrowed it down to these three:

1. Razer Megalodon
2. Steelseries SIBERIA V2 USB
3. Steelseries 7h USB.

Extreme gamer, mostly shooter.
I know Razer is great but as I heard Steelseries had some great references too.
Which one would you recommend? Is the difference that much?
I may have the option to get the Steelseries ones a little cheaper, but if it's worth it I would get the Megalodon.

Thanks :)

Solution

Razer MEgladon has a sound control box which allows you to change the amount of bass, trebble and in simple words the sharpness and precisness of the sound reaching ur ears. Means it will be kinda easier for yu to get frags.
I recommend Siberia V2 only because its tried and tested by proffessionals around the world. It is a very trusted headset. And wont let you down...Its also a little cheaper than Megladon... :)

Dude the answer is simple....
Point 1 : If you are more of an online gamer, then Razer Megladon may be the best option. Even the tiniest of movement can be heard clearly with its sound modulation box.
Point 2: If you are looking for something with mic , go for Razer Carcharius. Another masterpiece( i own it and its fkin awsome )
Point 3 : If you are a professional gamer and travel to LANs locally, nationally or internationally..then Steelseries Siberia V2 is the god. Pick any professional gamer from any gaming scene. You will find him using Steelseries Siberia
Point 4 : You missed out on another masterpiece.. MadCatz Triton(google it bro).
(available on ebay)
VERDICT: All the headsets mentioned are not much different from each other in terms of sound quality and preciseness. It just depends on your gaming stature, willingness to spend money and of course the brand name.
If you can shed a bit more cash..I strongly advise go for Madcatz triton.. :) gg

Thanks for the answer.

Well as I said only these two brands are available to buy, long story...:d
Yes I'm "Point 1" but why did you mention Siberia V2 for traveling and playing LANs locally?
And what did you mean by "modulation box"?

Yes a friend of mine just tested these two in person and told me to pick the v2 for same reasons.
But how about using the non-usb version on a 7.1 sound card? How the results will be?

Well I'm not sure at what sound card is the best, but these look pretty good: Asus Xonar DX 7.1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Creative Xi-Fi Gamer http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $50 off too!

Its almost the same thing . its expensive because it has the name 'fatality' on it. Incase you dont know what it means...fyi fatality is worlds most famous gamer. It is infact a little better in terms of its build quality..but dont shed too much cash for the name!
