no sound on windows 7 sound card, running in xp

I have an HP desktop that was built to run on windows 7. Due to still using peachtree DOS, we installed XP on he desktop. Now we get no sound. Was told by HP that the windows 7 drivers and sound card will not work when running XP as OS. Any wa to get speakers to work?

More about sound windows sound card running
  1. if there is no driver for it, no.
Or you could buy a sound card that have xp driver.
  2. Just get a tool like http://www.hwinfo.com/. It will identify the onboard audio chip, so you can download the XP driver from the manufacturer of the chip. It's most likely a RealTek anyway. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
