My onboard wireless card used to work real well and now it barely works (been only 1 year). I have 2 usb adapters but they can't seem to connect to the internet in my apartment and at home well.

I have a TP LinkWN72N and a Media Link wireless N 2.0 usb adapters.
The one on my computer that is broken is a TP-LINK TL-WN781ND Wireless Adapter.

I do some online gaming like WoW and do heavy streaming on the internet. I would like something that can handle that. I can't hook up an ethernet cable since the modem at my home and at the apartment I stay at are in other rooms (and I have no idea where the apartment modem is stored). I would prefer a USB adpater but if onboard card options are best I will consider it.

I would like to keep the pricing somewhat reasonable but I am willing to go a bit higher for a longer lasting adapter. Somewhere into the 50 USD range would be the highest. Thanks for your help. Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in.

Wireless, Gaming and USB don't mix pretty well. If wireless is your only option, get a PCI/PCI-express wireless card, and an external antenna. Don't use USB, it will slow you further down.

Well yes, I am aware that PCI/PCI-express card is the best optoin but I was more looking for direct suggestions such as a model/make. I already have a TP-LINK TL WN781ND that is in a PCI slot but I am a bit wary of buying another one since it broke so soon.

Try the TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter

I've had over 500 hours of MW3 on that adapter alone. Over 1800 hrs on Killing Floor before I retired it for a USB dual band wireless adapter, the Asus USB-N66
