Using a PS3 controller on my gaming PC?

I never had any urge to do this until I picked up Shift 2 on sale for $5 yesterday. It's alright on a keyboard, but would be much better with a controller.
So I looked around, downloaded that motion in joy thing, installed it plugged in my controller, and after windows installed the drivers for it, it doesn't come up.

So, I got mad and uninstalled it, I tried to get if from their website but kept getting 404 on all my computers, where can I find the most recent version, or is it even still around?
With it being mentioned so often I take it it's safe to use too right?

The other option would be getting a Xbox 360 PC controller...

I was orginaly looking at one of the wireless things for my xbox controllers.
I got it sorted out though, I eventually found a newer version, one for January 2013 I believe, either way, I installed that one and it worked!

I just downloaded and installed the Motionjoy DS3 tool recently for my PS3 controller for the same reason...I bought Shift 2 from the Steam sale.
You have to ignore windows driver update. It really does nothing just allows the PC to interface with the controller. What you are using the Motionjoy program for is to emulate an Xbox 360 controller onto your ps3 controller because Microsoft doesn't want you using their competitors product( I assume).

You must click "Driver Manager" in the Motionjoy program and download the most recent drivers through the program itself. Once you have the most recent drivers check the box next to them and click "Load driver". Once the drivers are loaded click back to "Profiles" and select "Xbox 360 Controller Emulator". Click "Enable" and then "Vibration Testing". If your controller vibrates then you are good to go.

I have been enjoying Shift 2 much more with a controller (and even more so having only spent $5). I hope this works for you.

motionjoy will mess up your computer i happened to me i had to use my keyboard to uninstall it what you need to do is watch this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY3fzFKbLVE
