Why is "windows boot option" set as first in the bios boot?

I have been getting a problem on my asrock z77 extreme 4 that when i sometimes turn on my computer, it gets stuck on splash screen

I decided to go to my bios to see if there might be a problem in the bios boot order. First is something called "windows boot option", then second is my ssd with the actual copy of windows.

What is that? And is this the reason why my computer gets stuck on the splash screen sometimes?

The OS would be on the SSD, the 1TB would be for everything else.

20gbn free space is not a great deal, you'd still need to boot to Safe Mode, wait for the desktop to settle then do a clean shutdown not Restart. Allow 2 minutes to pass before you power on again. Go directly to BIOS then do a Save & Exit, don't make any changes. let it go to desktop as normal and it might fix all those issues.

I dont even have a dvd drive in my computer.

Im pretty sure its in sata 3. Its in the light grey side.

But when i turn on the mobo, dr debug gives me a bunch of codes but the last one stayed for like 5 seconds then went away after windows booted up which was A2.

It matter which sata 3 i connect it to? I did not install any ide or ahci drivers. What do they do?

There are no drivers for IDE or AHCI, it is a bios setting to which you then change the option.
Windows OS identifies the type from the bios setting then sets its options in the registry.
If you change from AHCI to IDE, the next time you boot, Windows will kick up a BSoD.

If you change the SSD to a different connection, Windows will be slow to boot because you have changed the path of the SSD (different connection).

What version is Windows XP, 7, 8? x32 x64?


Stuck on splash screen might be a problem with the video card, under-powered PSU, not enough ram, or the SSD is having a bad day.

What are all your PC specs?

I have windows 7.

Specs:
Mobo: AsRock z77 Extreme 4
CPU: Intel i5 3570k 3.4ghz
GPU: Gigabyte 7870 OC 1100mhz
Ram: 8gb Corsair Vengeance
PSU: 600w corsair
SSD: crucial m4 64


And i know its not the gpu because i have upgraded my gpu once and it happen with both gpu's

A "Windows Boot" option might imply that you have other boot options like a Linux/Ubuntu option?

SSD Crucial m4 64 - that is only 64 gb. It could be that you are at your peak volume and that Windows is having trouble finding enough virtual space to load the system. You might have to try Safe Mode then uninstal some games or delete some old files that is taking much of the volume, you'd need a minimum of 10gb for Windows to boot to desktop.

I also have a 1tb hd. The ssd only has windows with 20gb left. I also only have windows 7, no other OS
