Office 2007 is compatible with Windows 8. As USAFRet said, you should be able to either run the disk or launch the install file and be good to go.

If you need to quickly check compatibility of a product with Windows 8, you can search for it in the Windows Compatibility Center database. The entry for Microsoft Office 2007 Professional is available here.

I have run the set up from the disk of Office 2007 Home & Student. After removing the trial version of Office 2010 from the new computer. I then can use Excel and PP but when I try to open Word I get a message that it is a PIP file.

You can try resetting the menu files (PIP files) as outlined here at Microsoft Support if they are causing an issue.

Thanks for the help. I found that if I use File Explorer and open WinWord application rather than Word application it seems to work for me now.

Thanks again,
