Which one of these cpu is better for gaming?

Intel i3 3225 or AMD FX 4130??

I know they go about neck in neck with the i3 having the slight advantage using lower end GPU's but the i3 really shines when it comes to the higher end gpu's (at least from the benchmarks that i've seen) Which is why that would be my choice but what worries me is that as time goes on and games are released to more effectively utilize those extra cores will that sorta make the i3 obsolete?

I don't totally agree with u.

if it depends on how much clock speed/cache then a FX-8 should beat an C I7 and its definitely not.

Not... Entirely.

Higher Clock Speed - Only due to it's much longer pipeline. Couple this with the larger process size, worse branch misprediction, and slow caching, and this advantage really becomes marginal.

More cache - More cache on paper, yes. But this cache is split 64-ways, making checking extremely slow; and that not only slows down the cache, but the TLB as well. For servers, a larger cache over a faster cache is important, but for gaming, the opposite is true.

More cores - Not... Exactly. Try more integer units, which, is important; but it's not more full cores. It still has the exact same amount of FPUs and most things are shared between two ALUs. Either way, without having hardware level parallelism, this is difficult to match the i3.

i3 is still the superior choice.
