Hi i am having troubles with my computer.

My problem is i dont have a dvd Rom so i am using an external dvd rom.
my external dvd rom is connected using a USB.
i set my boot priority. i choose it as my first priority and disable my second priority which is my hard drive.
Everytime i start my pc it shows
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.
any advice?
my mother board is: gigabyte h77m-d3h
and my external dvd is: LITEON model:eTAU108
Thank you so much!

Hi kel,

Its a Win 7 Usb bootable preparing utility.

You first format a USB (8 gb recommended) as NTFS.

Once done run WinBootic tool. It will show you your USB. Just drag and drop the Win 7 install folder or
Win 7 ISO file and run it.

It will first flash the bootable files and in a few minutes
copy the Win 7 files.. Once done Win.7 can be instaled off a bootable usb.

Bootable USB is the way to go...

Try this: WiNToBootic 2.1 - A Quick , easy way to make a bootable USB.

Link: www.wintobootic.com (Trust me, its as easy as it can get)..

Oh thanks all i have is a 4gb USB.
can i still try it? Can you tell me if by using a 4gb usb can cause more serious problem?
if yes then i will abort my plan but if it has a possibility to work i will give it a try.
I appreciate your help. thank you.

No, 4gb will do fine. Remember i suggested 8 gb cause i dont know the size of win 7 iso file or folder.

Having more gb is good, just in case.

If you have got the usb ready go ahead! Ley me know if it works.

I just installed it successfully! Gud luck..

It left a folder in my drive C named windows.old all my files and programs are still in there. but i wonder if the applications are still installed. I can still run their exe's but they dont show in my control panel as currently installed.

Thank you for all the help. I have finalized my installation and its working perfectly well. all my drivers were restored. I will just re-install the ones that doesnt execute anymore. Please consider this thread solved. I appreciate all your help and will share the knowledge i learned from you good people.
Sadly it seems i can only choose one for a solution. If i could choose all i would.
