Hi,

New to Tom's Hardware, and I was hoping you could review my current PC Set-Up and provide advice on what components I should upgrade for a better Gaming Environment, my System spec's are below.

Case: Cooler Master HAF 915
MotherBoard: ASRock 970 Extreme4 (Bios P2.3)
CPU: AMD FX-8120 (Zambezi)
Memory: 16GB (4x4GB) Corsair Vengence CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9
GPU: Dual AMD Radeon HD 7770 Cards
1024GB GDDR5 x2 running in CrossfireX 8x/8x
HDD: Samsung SSD 840 Series 120GB - Main Boot/OS/Gaming
1TB ST32000S42AS Sata Drive - Storage
Monitor: Acer G236HL 23" Widescreen
Mouse/Keyb: Steel Series 62157 - COD Black OPS II Gaming Mouse
Logitech K120 USB Keyboard
ISP Prov: Verizon FIOS 75MB+ Service

I am an FPS player, Battlefield3 exclusively, averaging 45-58 FPS in CrossfireX on Ultra MAx Settings @ 1920x1080.

Thanks in advance for the advice, looking forward to your comments.

Wait for the newest GFX cards to come out, thats all i can suggest as your system is good.

The only other thing would be to replace your processor..new AMD maybe? (New ones are comming out soon as well.)

It also depends on what you mean by "environment", as you could go tri monitor if you wanted.

might be stupid of me, but if you are getting good enough fps on ultra with desired resolution then what are you trying to improve? if you are getting desired gaming performance the best thing you might be able to do is get peripherals that give you a better experience

Should I go with dual cards or a stronger single amd card. Also, my motherboard supports NVidia as well, so should I look at those perhaps, but don't know if AMD CPU/ Nvidia GPU would work best together, any thoughts?

I am still experiencing some lag/studdering while playing BF3 multiplayer on-line, so maybe a better keyboard? My logitech USB is just a $18 generic. Was thinking about a better monitor as well, maybe 25"+ with at least 120mhz refresh, any thoughts on if this would help with lag/studdering?

idk about 120mhz monitors (rts here), bigger monitors are subjective probably not a huge difference between 23 60mhz and 25 120mhz unless you are sensitive to that sort of thing.

keyboards you could go mechanical, cheaper ones run 60~ish$$

A new monitor and a new duel GFX card either 690 or 7990 will be the only upgrade i would suggest. A better cpu might be required for both of these cards to run at max.

I actually just got the 8120 a few months ago, is there a big difference between the 8120 and 8350, I'll have to compare both and see.

Thanks

2 x HD7770s looks like good stuff!

If the 95W FX-8300 Vishera Piledriver comes to retail and you can snag one at a decent price, you might want to leap ... but otherwise you should probably wait for Steamroller

Or a mega-deal on a single card --which in your case would have to be in the HD7970-GTX680 range.

Hi Everyone,

Been a while, so I thought I would 'Answer' my own question. I traded my old PC in for a family iMac and built a new Gaming PC for myself. Thanks for everyone's great advice/suggestions.
