I have an SSD I want only for the W7 OS. I want to install all other programs on my HDD and those include some older programs. I have discovered some want to go to the program files x86 subdirectory on C. How do I stop this from happening? I manually tell the install to go to D but I'm wondering if windows requires they go to the C sdir. I hope I explained this right. I am only now starting to understand W7.
Thanks.

So you want to install your programs on your HDD? Just make a folder on the HDD called Programs and select that folder as the installation directory during the installation of the programs. Will work just fine.

Some programs do not give an option to change the installation directory. Is there a way around this?
