Can BOSS silicone 315 be used as an alternative thermal compound for my Xbox 360 GPU?

Unless you merely wish to glue the heatsink to the GPU, no.

Just use a normal thermal compound. The stuff is dirt cheap. You probably even know someone who has some extra laying around.

Similarly, unless you merley wish to create an extremly large paperweight, then no.

Why not? Can't order online? Go to a local computer shop and see if they can order you some for you.

In all seriousness, you need to get some thermal paste from somwhere eventually, but if you have a couple of thermal pads lying around they would probably suffice for the time being...

No worries everybody, I just fixed my Xbox without it. Thanks though :)

Without any thermal paste? I wouldn't do that if I were you. The termal paste is there to ensure contact between the component and the heatsink. If you're not using any thermal paste, it will overheat in no time.

Assuming you took the heatsink (or whatever is on the 360 GPU) off, you NEED to use thermal paste because it will overheat quickly, like ThomasJ93 said.

So you're using the old thermal paste? Bad idea as well.

You create air bubbles when you do that. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, baaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea. You should really research something before you do it.

Good luck. Hopefully you don't end up with a paper weight with a 360 logo on it.
