Hi people,

I have an old mobo that I am upgrading which is using,

AMD Phenom 1090t
Samsung 830 SSD 256GB
Radeon HD 5830 (I know it sucks)

So my question is, will I have to wipe my ssd and re-install windows or is there a way that I can save everything and simply upgrade the mobo?

I can remember something weird with upgrading with ssd's but really can't remember. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Solution
You just need to install the drivers from the disk that comes with the motherboard. Getting a new mobo or processor should not affect your programs or operating system.
On low budget, ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 .
Other you can take a look like, GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX (1st choice), Asus' M5A99FX Pro R2.0.

Also do you have the aftermarket cooler, if you can OC the cpu to 4GHz then you will get more juice from it.

Sweet, I know this might be a pain but do you know how I would go about getting it to work without wiping?

I think I read somewhere that you have to change some settings or something

I already ordered a mobo it's a low budget MSI 970A-G43 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) and I have also ordered an ARCTIC FREEZER 7 PRO REV 2 - CPU cooler.

My question is how would I install my mobo with my current SSD without re-installing windows and so that all my progs still work, namely steam.

Thanks bro, you saved me a lot of time. I'll install drivers first for new mobo then install it :)
