i currently do not have a price range, i am starting a list of parts that i can order piece by piece, i am using it for heavy gaming, photoshop, video editing, music recording and editing, i have had two of my friends try to explain how i should go about building and i am just confused, I'm not 100% on what parts i need (i know the basics) but i just cant seem to figure it all out, please help

Solution
The website http://pcpartpicker.com/ has a compatibility wizard - it removes hardware that doesn't work together....you can play around with different configurations easily.

Start with your Processor (CPU)
Then get a compatible mother board with your CPU
Then get compatible RAM with your Mother board
Then get a Video Card
Then get HDD/SSD
Then get a Power supply that can handle the power draw of your CPU, RAM, Video Card and other devices
Then get a case that will be big enough to hold your Motherboard and Video card length
Then you can get Key board, mouse, rom drive ect

@Randy thank you, i know some basics of computers and have put parts into existing setups but i have never built from the ground up before, how do i know if it is compatable?

@ronintexas i do not exactly have a budget, i'm trying to piece it out adn save up for parts buying it one or two pieces at a time, i know it might take a while that way but that is my only real option
