I have a
Intel DP55WG, LGA 1156 (BOXDP55WG) Motherboard,
Intel Core i5 750 2.66 GHz Quad-Core,
New Zalman CNPS5X PERFORMA CPU Cooler For Intel Socket,
VGA ASUS|HD7770-2GD5 HD7770 2G R,
PSU THERMALTAKE| TR-700 700W RT
XION Onyx 11-Bay ATX Mid Tower Window Gaming Case
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 Desktop Memory

my problem is it seems whenever my hard drive is accessed it flashes a blue light and makes a screeching noise almost like it is trying to connect to dial up. I have tried a different hard drive, drivers, and unplugging my cpu fan. Any ideas?
Update: mislead i meant a light on my motherboard labeled hd led blinks in succession with the screeching noise. sounds like an old computer cpu running

A bit of sound coming from the hard drive is normal (the platter moves and the read/write head does as well, so they make noise) but if it's loud it could be a problem with the drives.Try running a HDD test using Hirens Boot CD: http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd you can just burn it to a disc and you'll have tons of potentially useful troubleshooting utilities just to make sure the drives are fine.

Also if the HDD activily light your refering to is just constantly flashing and you're hearing sounds, it could be a heavily fragmented drive. Do you defrag your drive at all?

Also the title made me think this would be about motherboard audio. lol
