I currently own a GTX 550 ti, and use it to power 2 monitors. I only game on one of them. I recently was given a third monitor. (I now have 3 17 inch monitors running at 1280 x 1024 each.) However, the 550 ti only supports 2 monitors. I do not want to buy another 550 ti, as it is not necessary (I will only be doing word processing and web browsing on the two side monitors, so do not need the power of another 550 ti.)
My question is, can I buy a cheap GPU (e.g. GT 610 2gb) and run 2 monitors from that card, and then run the center screen off of the 550 ti. I will only be gaming on the center screen, so do not want surround. Will having the cheap GPU bring down the performance of the 550 ti? Is it possible to run the two card at the same time with no driver conflicts? In the future, I will be upgrading the center monitor to a 24". Will this still work, do the monitors all have to be the same?
Completely off topic, can I add an AMD 6670 to the 550 ti, or are they completely incompatible?
Any help is appreciated
