RAID Controller Suggestion?

The first thing you're going to have to buy is a SFF-8484 to SATA cable if you plan on using sata drives --- something like:

Was there a specific reason you choose this card? It's 3gb and not the newer 6gb.

There are TONS of PCIe raid controllers on Newegg with a wide range of features and prices.

Do you have need for internal and external ports?

Getting one that supports Debian probably isn't much of an issue.

No I do not need for any external drives. There was no specific reason, other than the fact it said "x4 internal" so i thought it can fit 4 hard drives.

I am split between these 2. (again open to suggestions)

I plan to use RAID 5, and I'm assuming I'm going to have some sort of of hot swap thing? In order to have more drives. How many drives can these 2 cards support?
