Not sure from your post exactly what happened, but it sounds like your Win-8 laptop was unexpectedly shut down while running a Windows Update? Now you have a boot loop.
Determining and fixing what is corrupt depends where in the StartUp process the computer reboots (after the Splash Screen, before Windows is Starting, or after Windows is Starting.
A failed startup should take you to the Win Recovery Environment (or insert your installation DVD), and from there choose Advanced Repair Options \ Troubleshoot \ Advanced Options \ and Automatic Repair Tool, which runs multiple tests and fixes many problems. If that doesn't work, under the Advanced Options, choose the System Restore and choose a Restore Point before the problem occurred. That can be the best choice when the problem occurred after a failed Windows Update.
