Until recently, my entire network was stored in an audio/video closet. While it seemed like a good idea at first, it didn't take long to realize that one of the biggest problems I was running into was the strength, or lack thereof, of the wireless signal. The setup was as follows... cable modem to airport extreme to linksys se2800 switch. From the back of the switch I had a few devices that were "hard-wired" including support for a netgear powerline adapter, and used wifi from the airport extreme for anything else that would allow. Granted I do have an apple airport express also in a different area to help with coverage, but I was really hoping to make some beneficial changes.

As I was mentioning, the idea was to have the flexibility to move the airport extreme to a better location. From that, I decided to setup my network as such... cable modem to switch in the audio/video closet. From the switch I ran all of the "hard-wired" devices and the netgear powerline adapter. In the room where I wanted to place the airport extreme, I connected the other end of the powerline adapter which I was then able to connect to the airport exteme.

The end result, I have great wifi coverage, but none of the "hard-wired" devices work that are connected to the switch nor do other powerline adapters that I have throughout the house.

I reached out to Cisco via a chat line which did me no good, and while I could probably call Apple, I'm hoping perhaps this forum may offer more hope. I do have a spare Cisco Valet router if the situation warranted, but the goal is to still have the airport extreme as my primary.

Thanks so much to everyone in advance for taking the time to read my thread and to anyone that could offer a much needed solution.
