Is the NVIDIA QUADRO600 compatible with

Asus M5A99X EVO R.20/ M5A97 R2.0 mobo
AMD Pnenom II X4 965 cpu

I found this graphics card and I'd like to utilize it in my new build but I can't seem to find any information confirming it will be compatible.

Thanks for any help

Tw1sted,

There is a similar system listed on Passmark Performance Test 8 having >

AMD Phenom II X4 965
8GB RAM
Quadro 600
ASUS M5A785TD-V EVO
OCZ-Vertex 3

> having the following rating and scores>

Rating = 1940 / CPU=4533 /2D=546 /3D-580 /MEM-1184 / DISK=2124

the other system with the same CPU and Quadro and 8GB RAM has an ASUS M5A78L/USB3 motherboard, but with mech'l HD (WDC WD500AAKX)>

Rating = 1607 / CPU=4513 /2D=543 /3D-698 /MEM-1171 / DISK=652

> As you can see the CPU / GPU and similar motherboards are compatible. It's interesting that the lower rated system- due to the mech'l HD - also has a noticeably higher 3D score.

For comparison, the lower rated system has some similar scores to the previous configuration Dell Precision T5400 > Xeon quad core X5460 @ 3.16GHz, Quadro FX 4800 (1.5GB), 12GB RAM, WD RE4 500GB >

Rating = 1623 / CPU=4797 /2D=512 /3D-912 /MEM-646 / DISK=956 > which new in 2009 would have been quite costly (the CPU and GPU only would have totaled about $2,400 ). The Quadro FX 4800 is now 3 generations obsolete and the low memory score is due to DDR2-667 ECC RAM- quite bit slower than DDR3. The WD RE4 enterprise mech'l HD though does quite well- for one of those. This shows how cost / performance improves for computers- about the only thing that gets better!

I would suggest that the Quadro 600 (2 generations obsolete) as a workstation CAD card will be very good for 2D CAD and graphics/ photo editing, medium for 3D CAD to quite good for Sketchup, but a poor choice for gaming. If you are buying new, I think the new Quadro K600 would be an all round better performer by far and for only about $30 more. There are only two systems on Passmark with the K600 and the Xeon E5-1620 (4-core @ 3.6GHz) / 14GB RAM, SSD system rated 2950, scored CPU=9046, 2D=681 / 3D=875.

Cheers,
