Hi everyone,
I am very much confused regarding the choice of motherboard. I have finalized two boards. One is the gigabyte ga z77x ud5h whereas the other one is the asus p8 z77 vpro. What do you people suggest. I will be using an i5 3570k, corsair vengeance 8gb ram, an evga gtx 660 ti.
Awaiting your response

gigabyte ga z77x ud5h for sure.

Better placement of the USB 3.0 external connector for one as well as a spot to install a msata device. Dual Gigabit NICs (I'd take that over Wifi any day). Power, Reset etc buttons right on the gigabyte PCB, perfect for testing. The Asus color scheme is quite fugly when compared to the gigabyte board as well if you care about such things. More SATA options on the Gigabyte board as well (9 vs. 8 internal ports).

Audio wise ALC 898 on the Gigabyte board and ALC 892 on the Asus board. Seems the gigabyte board is better in almost every way in terms of features.

In terms of performance I see the Gigabyte board lagging a bit in the USB 3.0/on board SATA performance: http://www.behardware.com/articles/861-13/roundup-z77-express-motherboards-from-asrock-asus-gigabyte-and-msi.html. These are not the Intel SATA ports but the additional ones on the boards PCB.

When it is all said and done the Asus board is only better for 3/4x SLI/CrossFire support overall imo.

I actually have the GA-Z77X UD5H, been using it for the last 2 months. Very stable bios, no issues to speak of, everything installed perfectly when I built my new system. It is nice since it comes with a front panel box for 2 extra USB 3 ports (my case had 2 already CM 690 II Advanced) so I have 4 now, 2 supporting on/off charge. Bios on mine was the latest version (F14) right out of the box. It also comes with a Debug LED which can come in handy for trouble shooting. The down side is running in SLi/xFire it only supports 8/8 one card you get the full 16 lanes for the PCI-e. The front panel audio connector can also be a pain if your cables aren't long enough, it's located at the bottom left corner of the board.

@haris25 It's not a bad board, but if you don't mind losing the msat port you could also go with the ASUS P8Z77-V LK, ASUS P8Z77-V LE, or ASRock Z77 Performance, they're all the same price on Newegg $139.99. oops there's a newer version of the ASUS P8Z77-V LE that's $149.99. I actually prefer Gigabyte boards never had any issues with them other than 1 that had a voltage regulator blow and fry my CPU but they replaced the board quickly, and AMD sent me a new CPU. I've been using Gigabyte for almost 10years. Other's swear by Asus, Asrock or MSI, just pick the one with the features you want or need, google the boards look for reviews, all are good boards, some are better for OCing. But the board you're looking at is a decent board.
