I got on my computer the other day and it was frozen. I had to do a manual restart with the power button. Now it won't reboot. I have gotten to the BIOS screen and all the drivers look like they are in the correct order. Upon one of the many restarts, Windows started to load but to no avail. It brought me to the restore windows setting screen but keeps on getting an error. Based that it loaded Windows at least to that point, I don't think it is my hard drive, but I don't know. I have a TON of info I need on it and use it to VPN to work. I need help. It is a bad SATA cord?

Error now: Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or Insert Media into proper boot device and select any key to continue

Now it won't event go past the "reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or Insert Media into proper boot device and select any key to continue" error message

Update: I got to the HP Diagnostic Tool. It says my CPU and RAM are good. However, when it gets to my hard drive it says please check to make sure the cables are properly secured and then restart. I have done this and to no avail. I have an extra PSU (factory), I could maybe try putting in with the new cords, however, they may just be adapters and actually not new SATA cords. I have heard of dust being an issue, but I have not tried to physically remove my hard drive to blow out any dust in the ports.

Do you have your original Windows disc? You could try using the system repair. If you suddenly can't boot from the HD that always worked, then it is likely to be a problem with your hard drive. You may want to take the HD out and test it in another computer. Either directly on an internal connection or in a USB2/3 or eSata external enclosure. While attached to the other computer it would be wise to use a diagnostics programs from the manufacturer of the drive.
