Crysis on ATI 7870?

Well I want to play Crysis 1 on my new PC. I use MSI Twin Frozr III 7870 HD and I thought it is enough to max the game. However what I don't get is that I runned Skyrim and Bioshock Infinite on Ultra settings with ease, but when I put Crysis on Very High, the GPU goes crazy! GPU fan starts spinning at 3000rpm, it makes quite a noise and the gpu heats more than on new games. Is there any way to fix it and play normally?
By the way I play on 1440x900 resolution

whats your cpu?

btw: crysis melts cpus and gpus alike. the gpu might be enough, though ultra settings might stretch it to its limits. you may have to turn down settings a notch or scale down your resolution. If your cpu isn't up to it, you might have to REALLY scale the settings down.

My CPU is i5 3570k and I play on a low resolution...

is either your cpu or gpu overclocked?

crysis 3 does kill gpu's but the thing is that I think you have your settings wrong. check the fan plan in afterburner and make sure that the case and card are clean. BTW, on max over clock (1276 core, 1450 mem, 1.35v core, max mem) I get around 65 C on the vrm with 75 percent fans and get 45 fps on everything maxed out including the 8x aa. I also play on the 1440x900 res and have a 7870 hawk, which is the same as your card except that it has an extra power pcb.

I would understand why it makes such noise if it was Crysis 3, but this is Crysis 1, it is a 5 year old game. My friend told me he played it maxed out on his old Nvida card easily, and I did some research, it seems that the game isn't well optimized for ATI cards, and that there should be some .ini tweaks to do...

Yep, I was an idiot. Forgot that you were talking about crysis 1. I do not have much experience with that. Just check your clock speed and temps to make sure that everything is running ok. I know my card freaks out sometimes when the screen is shut off.

Well thanks for the suggestions. Crysis 1 is another Nvidia's trick to make people buy Nvidia cards.
