hello all. wanted to overclock my CPU. it is a Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16 GHz (stock speed). my main board is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L. can see in the bios where supposed to do the OC, but have no idea what supposed to (never OC'd before). heard my CPU can go to 4 GHz and would like to try OCing it, since the CPU is kinda whats in the most need of an upgrade (and dont really have any extra money to buy a new one, since would need to replace the board, ram, and OS as well). am on stock air cooling, if that matters.
help with OC'ing C2D E8500

that board isn't the greatest over clocker. 4ghz is fantasy land. lower the multiplier on the processor and over clock your ram.
